Getting to Suomenlinna is half the adventure. The ferry ride from Helsinki is short, but the cold wind off the water and the sight of ice floating by set the mood perfectly. Once you arrive, the fort…Full review by Ilmari L

Easy to catch the ferry across & grab a map. Apparently guides are not allowed. You follow the path to the end & see a variety of buildings & a church. There are some cafes & shops on the way. This w…Full review by ginaandjoy

Suomenlinna is a fascinating historical site just a short ferry ride from Helsinki, and it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.Full review by Saul V

Thank you for your question and many thanks to all our visitors for sharing their experience on the topic! It is possible to commute from the airport to Helsinki central railway station very smoothly by train. From the central railway station, it's not a long walk (about 1 km) to Kauppatori Market Square where you can take a ferry to Suomenlinna. The ferry takes only about 15 minutes and runs frequently all year round. We recommend using our online guide on our website for checking the schedules and planning your visit in Suomenlinna. Welcome to Suomenlinna!

I'll be visiting in early September (somewhere between 9-12 Sept). I checked online that sun sets around 20:00, would it be a good timing (in the sense that I get to stroll around and take pictures) for me to visit the island from 17:00-19:00?
A:
I agree with Arbie56, particularly about the ferries and the museums. The marked walks are certainly good too.
