Hmmm, really not much for kids. There are lots of unique lifestyle products, furniture and clothing. There are art shows. There is an eslite mall selling design-led products plus a bookstore. But really I don't think kids are interested in such things.
Basically, the park is opened most of the time but if you wanna to check the festival, exhibition and shopping mall there, you better check online first.
Sorry... my answer is a little late for you maybe... every time when I go there, I will take off from the City Hall station and walk to there, I think this route is easier.
