Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 carrying 242 people, crashed after taking off from Ahmedabad on its way to London.

The Gujarat government will hold a state funeral for former CM Vijay Rupani in Rajkot on Monday, coinciding with a day of state mourning.

Three days after flight AI 171 crashed, a total of 80 DNA samples have been matched and 33 bodies handed over to the families, Additional Medical Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, Dr Rajnish Patel said Sunday.

PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an official statement, confirmed that a second black box has been recovered from the Ahmedabad plane crash site.

Air India has confirmed that one passenger survived Thursday's airplane crash, which had 242 passengers and crew members on board.

In a significant development related to the Ahmedabad plane crash, authorities have successfully matched the DNA of 31 victims. So far, 12 of the identified bodies have been handed over to their respective families.

Three days after the crash, only 35 bodies had been handed over to relatives from an overall official death toll of 270.

The committee is expected to focus on "formulating Standard Operating Procedures for preventing such occurrences in the future". A separate investigation is also being carried out by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which is looking into the technical aspects of the crash.
