Witnesses rushed to help but could not save an 8-year-old boy attacked by dogs, according to investigators in Florida. It happened around 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, near the entrance of the Berry’s Ridge subdivision outside DeLand, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Volusia County deputies say Michael Millett was riding his bike with a friend Monday when he went to pet the dogs and they attacked.

An 8-year-old boy was attacked and killed by a pair of dogs north of DeLand Monday, according to the Volusia Sheriff's Office. The attack was reported just before 5 p.m. in the area of Arabesque Drive and Airport Road, according to the post on X, formerly Twitter. Witnesses called 911 and started CPR on the boy, but he did not survive.
