Hours before the parade, a steady stream of people were queuing to get into the Army Birthday Festival on the National Mall. Many donned t-shirts with American flags, Army fatigues, insignia honoring military service and the occasional MAGA hat.

As crowds began to gather along the parade route Saturday morning, the Army celebrations were already underway with a fitness challenge along the National Mall and a wreath-laying at Arlington National Cemetery.
