A state parks worker was killed Saturday while responding to a large wildfire in Orange County that originated across the border in New Jersey.

An 18-year-old employee of the New York State parks system died on Saturday while battling a forest fire in Orange County, the State Police said. It was one of several recent blazes in the New York metro area.

Authorities said the voter registration offices of Orange and Riverside counties were closed Friday after receiving a bomb threat.

Election offices in Orange and Riverside counties were evacuated after each received bomb threats. No explosives were found in either building. Both threats were sent via email, authorities said. ABC News is reporting that these same types of threats have been happening at offices across the country.
