Lifeguards at Rockaway Beach, Queens, sprang into action on the Fourth of July, blowing whistles and keeping a close watch after two sharks were spotted swimming near beachgoers. The sightings led to a brief closure of the beach as safety crews responded and swimmers were cleared from the water.
