Igor Shesterkin was placed on injured reserve by the New York Rangers on Tuesday because of an upper-body injury. The goalie made 21 saves in a 5-3 loss at the Florida Panthers on Monday, his 29th birthday. Shesterkin did not leave the game because of an injury.

Reports surfaced late Tuesday afternoon that Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin is being placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.

The Rangers’ MVP of the night was Jonathan Quick. The 38-year-old goalie filled in for Igor Shesterkin who was placed on injured reserve this week and it’s safe to say he did an excellent job. Quick recorded 32 saves on 33 shots and he made multiple spectacular stops that helped the Rangers maintain their small lead.

According to Mollie Walker of The New York Post, the Rangers are placing goalie Igor Shesterkin on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. The Rangers did not announce the move but did recall goalie Louis Domingue from the AHL. Shesterkin started in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers, allowing four goals.
