Lt Governor Dan Patrick is calling for the end of the Texas Lottery Commission’s use of lotto couriers to sell purchased tickets through online apps.This comes after Patrick toured the North Austin facility that sold Monday’s winning ticket.

Someone won an $83.5 million prize from the Texas Lotto, according to the Texas Lottery. The winner purchased the ticket at Winners Corner, at 7817 Rockwood Lane Ste 101B in Austin.

“This is not the way the lottery was designed to operate,” Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said in a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, after the $83.5 million ticket was sold through an Austin retailer owned by a lottery courier.
