Chinese Buddhism has three branches: Han, the most widely practiced; Tibetan Buddhism popular primarily in Tibet and Inner Mongolia; and Pali or Southern Buddhism practiced mostly in Yunnan Province.

Buddhist monks and nuns wear simple robes. The colour depends on the denomination or branch of Buddhism that they belong to but they're usually autumn colours: yellow, orange, brown, maroon.
