One of the biggest losses to the NCAA transfer portal for the Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team is the departure of star forward Owen Freeman. Freeman committed to the Creighton Bluejays of the Big East after they swooped in late and lured him out of the transfer portal and to Omaha.

Owen Freeman, the 2024 Big Ten Freshman of the Year at Iowa, is transferring to Creighton. The 6-foot-10-inch forward averaged 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game as a sophomore with the Hawkeyes this past season.

On Wednesday, former Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball star Owen Freeman announced on Instagram that he has committed to Creighton.
