After 20 years of operation, Glen Shackleton, president of Haunted Walks has been told by the HI-Ottawa Jail hostel that their relationship has come to an end.
It was converted into a unique hostel in 1973. The hostel has advised Haunted Walk that its contract to conduct historic tours and ghost tours, which ends June 26, 2016, won’t be renewed.
Close to 30,000 people a year take Haunted Walk’s tour of the 153-year-old former jail and about the same number spend a night there in the hostel, which has operated since 1973.
