"SNL" kicked off its latest episode with a timely cold open addressing the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Portrayed by James Austin Johnson, Trump appeared in a white “USA” cap and opened, “Good evening, and happy World War III to all who celebrate. It’s me, Donald Trump, FIFA Peace Prize winner and Nobel Peace Prize taker.”
Colin Jost’s Pete Hegseth then entered the Cold Open to blaring patriotic rock, brimming with Fox News bravado. "Don’t let my confident demeanor fool you,” Jost’s Hegseth declared. “I’m scared and don’t know what I’m doing."
Saturday Night Live opened with Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson), who touted himself as peacemaker, now addressing the country exulting in war with Iran. With the U.S. and Israel launching strikes on the Iranian regime early on Saturday, killing the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the show scrambled plans for the cold open.
Alexander Skarsgard served as the host of the sketch-comedy series' mammoth 1,000th regular episode. Cardi B served as musical guest.
“ Heated Rivalry ” star Connor Storrie debuted as “ SNL ” host Saturday with a monologue that was less about the actor who plays a hockey star on TV, and more about giving credit to the women’s USA hockey team following their slight from the men’s team and President Donald Trump during the recent Olympics.
