Mercedes-Benz is giving its electric vehicle owners access to Tesla's Supercharger network for public fast charging with approved adapters.

As Mercedes-Benz prepares to add NACS ports to new models this year, the automaker is opening access to the Tesla Supercharger network for its existing EVs. Starting in February, authorized Mercedes dealers will offer a free software update for US-based EV owners that opens the gates to the network of over 20,

The EV giant is banding together with major competitors including Ford, Stellantis, and Toyota to help them meet European emissions targets.

The arrangement allows carmakers to average out the emissions of their fleets, with those selling fewer EVs compensating companies like Tesla that over-comply with limits on carbon dioxide emissions.

European carbon emissions regulations are getting tighter for 2025, so to avoid fines, automakers are buying credits.
