According to a Mega Millions news release, Friday's drawing will be the eighth largest jackpot since the game began in 2002. It is also the 40th drawing of this current run, and the jackpot is the largest since it reached $1.269 billion on December 27, 2024, when someone in California scored the winning numbers.

Someone won a $78 million jackpot prize in the Nov. 15 Lotto Texas, according to the Texas Lottery . The winner purchased the ticket at Gordon’s Bait & Tackle, at 7066 Padre Island Highway in Brownsville.

The "jackpot-winning ticket worth an estimated annuitized $78 million for the Lotto Texas drawing held on November 15 was purchased at Gordon’s Bait & Tackle, located at 7066 Padre Island Highway, in Brownsville," the Texas Lottery said in a news release.

The life-changing prize was ultimately claimed by a player in Georgia. Michigan also landed multiple Match 5 winners with the 3X Megaplier, adding to the sting for Texans hoping the long-running jackpot would finally land in the Lone Star State.
