Does it want to be an erotic thriller, a crime drama or quirky action click? One thing's for sure, The Counselor is atrocious. Overall I give The Counselor 0.5 out of 4 potatoes.

Everything about The Counselor is mystifying, from the rambling, often indecipherable dialogue, to a dream cast that’s capable of much better turning in ho-hum if not downright bad performances ...

But in The Counselor, there is little beauty and less reason to enjoy McCarthy’s pretentious imperfections. The Counselor is in theaters now and is rated R with a running time of 111 minutes.

I think the film that started this trend was the legal thriller "The Lincoln Lawyer" (2011). McConaughey plays Mickey Haller, a slick lawyer whose office is the back seat of a Lincoln Town Car.

If only “The Counselor” showed as much narrative flair as Javier Bardem ‘s wardrobe in it. Ridley Scott’s latest movie starts off promisingly enough but ultimately becomes a big bore.
