Blue Origin put its orbital-class New Glenn rocket through its last major test in preparation for the rocket's first-ever launch.

The company, owned by the Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, also received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to launch the vehicle to orbit.

New Glenn will lift off from Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral with Blue Origin’s Blue Ring Pathfinder—a prototype spacecraft designed to host and transport up to 3,000 kilograms of payloads, refuel visiting spacecraft, and enable in-space computing and communications.

The NG-1 mission will carry a prototype of Blue Ring, a Defense Department-funded spacecraft envisioned as a versatile satellite deployment platform, which will remain on board the rocket's second stage for the six-hour test flight.
