The Federal Communications Commission on Thursday approved the merger between Paramount Global and Skydance Media

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr praised Skydance Media’s commitment to hire an ombudsman for CBS News after it completes its merger with Paramount Global. The commitment was outlined in a filing with the FCC this week.

As part of its agreement to allow an $8 billion merger between media conglomerates Skydance and Paramount, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has assigned a government monitor to CBS (which is owned by Paramount) to rein in perceived "bias" against President Donald Trump and his administration.

Brendan Carr discussed media course correction following Colbert's show cancellation and criticizes partisan content, highlighting Skydance's CBS News plans.

The partisan left’s ritualist wailing and gnashing of teeth over Colbert is quite revealing,” Brendan Carr tweeted Tuesday, adding that critics of the cancellation are ‘acting like they’re losing a loyal DNC spokesperson.

The settlement came amid a pending merger with CBS parent company Paramount and Skydance, which requires administration approval. Colbert blasted the network for settling with Trump in what he deemed a “nuisance lawsuit” in a monologue on his show prior to being given the axe.
