Rob McElhenney has had much success in TV under that name. McElhenney, co-creator of the long-running comedy series “ It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia ,” has filed for a legal name change. McElhenney is known to fans of the FXX show as Mac (a character born Ronald McDonald ), so it’s not a long ways off from that.

The actor wants a new surname, which he will use professionally to avoid confusion over the pronunciation of his current one.
