Netflix has ordered a Little House on the Prairie series, 40-plus years after a long-running adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved books aired its last episode on NBC. The new version comes from showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine ( The Boys, The Vampire Diaries ).

Sonnenshine is the executive producer and showrunner of the new Little House on the Prairie reboot at Netflix. Per IMDb, among her producing credits are Bunny (2000), Reversion (2008), The Vampire Diaries, Outcast, The Crossing, Archive 81 and The Boys.

News of the reboot comes days after Nielsen’s streaming report for 2024, which revealed that the original Little House is one of the most popular “legacy titles” on streaming, logging over 13 billion viewing minutes on Peacock.
