Meta Spending to Soar on AI, Massive Data Center
Mark Zuckerberg announced a huge leap in Meta’s capital spending this year to between $60 billion to $65 billion, an increase driven by AI and a massive new data center.The 70% increase over 2024 capital expenditure projections comes days after OpenAI and partners unveiled a $500 billion spending plan backed by President Trump called Stargate earlier this week.

OpenAI debuted its Operator agent system. It’s just a research preview for now, a start toward the promised land of AI agents where we might see automated grocery restocking and expense reports (I’ll believe that when I see it). But the road will be long and winding.
