A South Korean court issued warrants Tuesday to detain impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol and search his office and residence over his short-lived declaration of martial law.

South Korean authorities said Monday they had asked a court to authorize a warrant for the arrest of suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol on insurrection and abuse of power allegations following his abortive effort to impose martial law.

South Korean investigators have sought an arrest warrant for suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol over this month's short-lived imposition of martial law, an official said on Monday, the first time an incumbent president has faced such action.
