Anthony Edwards posted his second double-double of the season Friday night for the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves, who rode a red-hot outside shooting performance to a 116-99 win over the New York Knicks.

Friday’s game was a far cry from Dec. 19, when the Knicks dominated the Timberwolves in Minnesota, 133-107. That night, Edwards scored just 17 points on 16 shots, deferring to Randle, who was still acclimating to his new team after the trade.

The Knicks, meanwhile, were inefficient offensively without Karl-Anthony Towns, who sat in street clothes — though not in Eagles gear this time — while nursing a sprained thumb. Jalen Brunson scored 26 points but shot just 9-for-23 with five assists. No other Knick had 20 points.

Friday’s matchup between the Timberwolves and Knicks lost a healthy dose of its intrigue just before the game when Karl-Anthony Towns, who entered as a game-time decision because of a thumb injury, sat out his second consecutive game.

The Knicks dropped their second straight home game on Friday night, as they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 116-99, at Madison Square Garden.

Anthony Edwards has yet another bill to pay to the NBA. The Minnesota Timberwolves star has been fined $50,000 for making obscene gestures toward a game official.
