Nirvana, Joan Jett and Kim Gordon
St. Vincent, Joan Jett and Kim Gordon joined Pat Smear and original Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic onstage for a reunion of sorts at FireAid Thursday. Violet, Jett, and Gordon each subbed in for the late Kurt Cobain.
The surviving members of Nirvana — drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic, as well as touring guitarist Pat Smear — reunited for the first time in five years at the FireAid benefit concert.
An absolute highlight of FireAid was the comet-like reappearance of the remaining members of Nirvana onstage together playing the band's songs again.
In the past few weeks, people have been planning many, many benefits for the victims of the recent Los Angeles wildfires. The biggest of those shows went down last night: FireAid, a gigantic all-star spectacular that took over both the Intuit Dome and the Kia Forum.
Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear reunited and were helped by variety of guest vocalists for a Nirvana performance at the FireAid benefit concert.
Other performances at the LA FireAid concert—held at two venues, the Kia Forum and Intuit Dome—featured Lady Gaga performing a string of A Star Is Born hits as well as an unreleased song, Green Day joined by Billie Eilish for Last Night On Earth, No Doubt continued their reunion, and The Black Crowes and Slash backed John Fogerty.
The band also brought out Dave Grohl's 18-year-old daughter, Violet Grohl, to wrap up the set with an emotional rendition of "All Apologies"
