Like their AirPods 4, the AirPods 5 come in two versions, but both now feature active noise-canceling -- and it's 50% more effective.

Apple revealed the AirPods 5 wireless earbuds on Wednesday at its "Surprise and Shine" keynote event. The AirPods 4 were announced two years ago, and the new version features some key upgrades. Like their predecessor, the new AirPods 5 come with two models. Unlike the previous gen, both feature active noise cancellation.

For one, we get two versions of AirPods 5 yet again. A "cheaper" $130 model and a slightly more expensive $150 model. The latter one has a MagSafe wireless charging case, and volume controls on the AirPod stems. Like AirPods Pro 3, there's a small touchpad that accepts swipe controls. The $130 AirPods 5 and the 2025 AirPods 4 do not have that.

With better sound and noise cancellation — and a lower price for the step-up model — the AirPods 5 are easy to recommend to Apple users who don’t like having eartips jammed in their ears.
