WASHINGTON STATE — A circle of people dressed in blue forms every Saturday morning at the DuPont Powderworks Park.

Land along the Congaree River untouched for over a century is now being considered for a “world-class” park, but the site is prone to floods and some worry the plans will damage the riverfront.

What began as the dreams and wishes of many Derby residents is starting to become a reality thanks to the city’s Parks Master Plan.

On Thursday, fallen LMPD Officer Nick Rodman’s widow Ashley was honored for her community service and a new park was given her husband’s name.
