Last year saw the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which was subsequently given a transformative upgrade on PS5 Pro, with an even more graphically impressive iteration released yesterday on PC. In an interview with 4Gamer (thanks, VGC ), producer Yoshinori Kitase was asked by the outlet about concerns current-gen players might need to upgrade:

Final Fantasy 7 part 3 won't be a PS6 exclusive, breaking the trend set by Remake and Rebirth, which were only on PS4 and PS5 respectively before coming to PC.

Sony's PS5 arrived in 2020, seven years after the PS4 arrived in 2013. The same pace would see the PS6 released in 2027, which is the same time Square Enix hopes to release the third and final game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.
