The success of Marvel Studios is so immense that it's hard to believe some of its biggest movies almost never made it to the screen.

Marvel is entering the last phase of The Multiverse Saga this week with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is leading towards the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. But what can we expect from the superhero franchise once Marvel Phase 6 is over?

That might sound like no big deal, but after 2023’s “The Marvels,” this spring’s fourth “Captain America” movie and “Thunderbolts*” all underperformed by Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) standards, the new “Fantastic Four” may offer broader audience appeal by not pulling from other franchises.
