Singer Nick Dixon, 29, is looking forward to covering Sam Fender’s most popular songs at Monument Metro station, in Newcastle Upon Tune, as fans travel to see him in concert at St James’ Park.

Sam Fender fans who can't get enough of the local favourite will be able to listen to his songs - if not quite him - from the moment they arrive in Newcastle on the day of his eagerly-awaited shows.

The 29-year-old, from Hartlepool, will perform in the ticket concourse at Monument station in the two hours leading up to each concert.

The team behind the Tyne and Wear Metro have warned the system “is expected to be extremely busy” due to the Newcastle United city centre celebration this weekend.

Replacement bus services will be in operation, and Monument Metro station will be fully closed during this period. Supporters are encouraged to allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes.
