Wet, wintry weather arrives this weekend, with possible snow showers forecast to continue next week. Late Saturday afternoon is forecast to be rainy with periods of sleet and patchy fog with a high near 38. Less than half an inch of daytime snow and sleet accumulation is possible.

A storm arriving in southern Maine on Saturday, just two days after a combination rain-and-snow storm swept through the area, is likely to bring another round of cold, wet weather.

Areas north and west of the Triangle would have the region’s best chance of frozen precipitation accumulation, the forecasters said. Still, Raleigh could see freezing rain between 1-4 a.m. Wednesday, followed by sleet after 4 a.m. The chance of precipitation Wednesday is 80%.
