The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday heard the Trump administration's case to overturn a temporary order halting Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in California.

The lead plaintiff is the New England Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, based in Worcester. Together, the groups allege that actions by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security violate the constitutional right to religious freedom.
