Five of Kentucky’s university presidents told state lawmakers that their campuses are focused on inclusivity for all students as an interim committee sought information about diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in higher education.

Kentucky State University is preparing to officially welcome its new president, LEX18 reported this week. Dr. Koffi Akakpo has been on campus since summer 2023, but his inauguration is set for Friday, officially making him the 19th president in university history.

At the interim joint committee on education Tuesday, the presidents of five state universities answered questions related to the role of DEI on campus.
