ACC Network officials have not detailed its projected reach upon the launch. Comparisons to the past, though, aren’t necessarily fruitful, given the ever-changing landscape of media consumption.

The linear ACC Network channel is set to launch in 2019 and will eventually show more than 1,300 events per year across all platforms. ESPN needed only about one year to launch the SEC Network.

But even before the switch flips Aug. 22, the ACC Network already has distinguished itself from any project in the history of sports television: It has been built almost entirely by women.

Just hours before its 7 p.m. launch, the ACC Network has deals in place with Spectrum cable (Channel 937 locally), which covers much of Louisville, as well as DirecTV.
