Firefighters said they were called to a ‘small fire’ which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.

The operator’s website added that Gatwick Express services remain suspended with disruption expected to continue until 6pm. Firefighters were called in to deal with the “small fire”, which temporarily caused all services through the station to be suspended as passengers were evacuated into Gatwick’s South Terminal.

No trains can call at Gatwick Airport train station after a fire alarm which saw all rail passengers evacuated to the South Terminal, a spokesman said.
