Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s live-action take of How to Train Your Dragon will be getting a global debut at exhibitor-studio confab CinemaCon on Wednesday, April 2, at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

The live-action “How to Train Your Dragon” movie will have its world premiere at CinemaCon in April, Universal Pictures and the National Association of Theater Owners announced on Thursday. The screening will take place April 2 at Caesar’s Palace.

Universal is getting in on the live-action… action for the first time with the upcoming How To Train Your Dragon movie. However, in the case of this live-action version, one of the major filmmakers behind the animated movie has returned to tell the story himself in a new way.

CinemaCon 2025 is set to host the worldwide debut of How to Train Your Dragon, the upcoming live-action reimagining of the DreamWorks Animation film, written and directed by franchise creator Dean DeBlois.

"It kind of put my own convictions to the test and I feel like a bit of a hypocrite because I've always felt like live-action remakes are often disappointing replacements of the animated movie," DeBlois, who co-directed the original animated film, told CinemaBlend.
