Postmaster General Louis DeJoy pledged Thursday that the US Postal Service will undertake “heroic efforts” to deliver all mail-in ballots on time this year and urged people to put their ballots in the mail at least one week before Election Day on November 5.

Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab is requesting answers from U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy after it was reported his agency mishandled legally cast primary election ballots. Schwab is also asking for assurances that any issues will be rectified by November’s general election.

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said some changes in how mail is processed are being paused to ensure they don’t interfere with performance during the election.
