Garner also noted that she’s portraying Shalla-Bal, a female iteration of the Silver Surfer, and not Norrin Radd, the male version of the character who was played Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne in 2007’s “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”
Shalla-Bal, first seen in “The Silver Surfer” #1 in 1968, is the female counterpart to Norrin Radd, who was featured in 2007’s “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.” In that film, the humanoid alien was played by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne.
There was a moment in the ‘80s and early ‘90s when the Silver Surfer almost rode a wave of psychedelic rock straight onto the big screen. This nearly-made movie would’ve mashed up the philosophical space opera energy of 2001: A Space Odyssey with a soundtrack driven by a rock ‘n’ roll legend.
