The Google Home extension for Gemini has begun rolling out widely. The Gemini Google Home extension offers a more conversational approach to smart home control. The extension is currently limited to Android users and requires enrollment in the Google Home Public Preview program.

As announced at the end of last month, Gemini’s Google Home Extension is now seeing wider availability this week. Opening Gemini > Extensions in the Gemini for Android and look for “Google Home” and its green “Public Preview” label. (It is not appearing on the web or iOS.)

On its own, Google Gemini is essentially just an AI chatbot, similar to what you'd find with things like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. That's good enough but without anything extra, it is hard for Gemini to stand out, besides its convenience of being on your Android device.
