The state does not currently offer paid parental leave to its employees caring for a new child. “Nothing is more important to me than family,” Gov. Reynolds said in a press release.
According to the National Partnership for Women & Families, at least 13 states, plus Washington, D.C., have passed their own paid family leave laws as of July — Florida not included.
Employees will continue to be entitled to up to 12 weeks of leave under FMLA. They can apply other forms of leave in addition to the new paid leave to make up the full 12 weeks.
