State and local leaders across South Carolina are offering their condolences and support after a school bus crash on Thursday killed a student and injured others. A school bus from Pine Ridge Middle School in Lexington District 2 crashed on Interstate 77 while carrying about 35 students, according to district officials.

One student was killed and 21 other people were injured when a school bus returning from a field trip overturned along Interstate 77 in South Carolina.

The bus was carrying students from Pine Ridge Middle School back from a field trip outside Charlotte, North Carolina, school officials said.
