Officials in the northern Caribbean are warning of heavy rains and dangerous swells as Tropical Storm Erin approaches the region.

Royal Caribbean has named a new 'godmother' for its 'Star of the Seas' cruise ship. The announcement comes after Diana Ross unexpectedly pulled out of her appearance.

The three-day showcase voyage, scheduled to depart August 20 from Port Canaveral, Florida, was set to feature a ceremonial champagne christening and a stop at Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

"We are disappointed that Diana Ross is unable to join us to be godmother of Star of the Seas," Royal Caribbean said, as it seeks replacement.
