When Rocky was able to sniff out the suspect hiding in a dumpster, the suspect shot the K-9 three times in the neck, the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 said in a Facebook post. The precinct posted an update on Rocky on Jan. 16, saying he will be making a full recovery.

K-9 Rocky, a U.S. Marshals dog injured during a manhunt for a Brazoria County deputy’s suspected killer, is expected to recover, but officials say it could “take a while.”

"Rocky" is still recovering after being shot in the line of duty on Wednesday during a manhunt for a deputy's killer. But there is some good news regarding his condition.

The dog, a year-and-a-half old Belgian Malinois, was shot two times and remained in stable condition on Wednesday evening.
