A labama Crimson Tide fans have been waiting to see how their team would look under second-year head coach Kalen DeBoer, but the Tide hit a bump in the road during summer practice.

Ty Simpson was originally a Nick Saban recruit, but he will start at quarterback for Kalen DeBoer with Alabama football in 2025.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb had hinted throughout the offseason that Simpson was leading the race. Their belief was reinforced after the first preseason scrimmage, where Simpson’s control of the offense and poise under pressure stood out compared to the other candidates.

The college football preseason AP Top 25 Poll just dropped, and it’s neither Arch Manning’s Texas Longhorns nor Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama Crimson Tide that made the biggest leap in the rankings.
