The Massachusetts State Police Department is investigating after the Statehouse was vandalized early Wednesday morning. State police say they responded to a vandalism call around 3:30 a.m. Officers found someone had poured white paint on the gate and spray painted some surfaces before leaving the scene.

Police say paint was poured and sprayed on the State House before a suspicious package prompted a bomb squad response.
