The New York Rangers have hired Mike Sullivan as coach, days after he left his job with the Pittsburgh Penguins. General manager Chris Drury announced the move Friday, bringing in the organization's top candidate who was out of work for less than a full business week.

The decision ends a fantastic run by Sullivan, who was hired by the franchise during the 2015-16 season after it fired Mike Johnston. In Sullivan's first year with the team, the Penguins won the Stanley Cup. They did it again the following year, giving Sullivan two championships in his first two seasons with the franchise.

Twice Olympic 100 metres medallist Fred Kerley has been arrested and will not compete in Grand Slam Track's inaugural U.S.-based event in Miami this weekend, the circuit said on Friday.
