Madison Heights police say a person who was shot multiple times by an officer Friday night had pointed a gun in the direction of officers and was ordered to drop it. At about 8:15 p.m. Friday, Madison Heights officers responded to a report of shots being fired in the 27000 block of Brettonwoods, according to a release Saturday.

The suspect fled to California before being apprehended by the Los Angeles Police Department and extradited to Michigan.
