The majority of Wisconsin's public universities enrolled more students than it did the previous year, according to preliminary headcounts at each university on Monday. University of Wisconsin System President Jay Rothman said he was "elated" by the numbers.
Universities of Wisconsin projects higher enrollment, led by UW-Madison
Eight of the UW system’s schools are expected to grow, including Eau Claire, Green Bay, La Crosse, Madison, River Falls, Stevens Point, Superior and Whitewater. Their growth will offset any declines at the other five four-year schools.

The Universities of Wisconsin system will no longer release enrollment numbers for its individual campuses, The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. Instead, officials will offer updates on enrollments across the system and at the larger UW institutions, many of which have multiple branch campuses.
