Peritonsillar Abscess aka PTA: hot potato voice, unilateral throat, ear, neck, jaw pain, difficulty swallowing, and a few day history of sore throat, and usually a pretty good fever. Priorities: airway management, drainage of the abscess either by needle aspiration, or in the OR with surgical intervention, and symptom control.
