The first person ever to walk in space died on October 11. He was 85 years old. Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov walked in space in 1965. Mr. Leonov spent 12 minutes in space 100 miles above the earth’s surface. He was connected to a tether from his capsule. “It was so quiet I could even hear my heartbeat,” said Mr. Leonov in an interview to London’s Observer. “I was surrounded by stars… I will never forget the moment,” he said.
